Derry Power

Derry played in the first production of Brendan Behan’s The Quare Fella at the Pike Theatre in 1954. He was a member of the Abbey Theatre Company from 1955 to 1960. He has played in London’s West End on five occasions and once on Broadway.

Druid: This is Derry’s first production with Druid.

Other Theatre: Juno and the Paycock and Tarry Flynn (National Theatre, London). Martin Doul in The Well of the Saints directed by Patrick Mason (Abbey Theatre, Edinburgh Festival, Perth, Australia, and Paris). The Playboy of the Western World directed by Lindsay Anderson, and the Abbey Theatre’s production of The Barbaric Comedies directed by Calixto Bieito, both at the Edinburgh Festival.

This is Derry’s second time working with Garry Hynes, having previously appeared in her production of Juno and the Paycock at the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin.
