Where is Druid based?

Druid is located in Galway, on the west coast of Ireland. This is where the company was founded in 1975 and where it continues to work from. Both the theatre and the administration offices are located in Galway although Druid also tours extensively in Ireland and overseas.

How do I become a member of Druid’s acting company?

Casting for Druid is managed by our Dublin based casting agent, Maureen Hughes. All enquiries should be sent directly to Maureen and any CVs which are sent to us here in Galway are automatically forwarded to her for consideration.

Do you run courses for actors/directors?

Druid produces and presents theatre but does not run any courses for actors or directors.

How do I find out where Druid is performing at the moment?

Information about our current and upcoming productions can be found on our What’s on page. You might also like to consider joining our e-mail mailing list to to receive news of forthcoming productions and other Druid news.

What’s on in the theatre at the moment?

If there is no Druid production currently on at the theatre, you may still find that there are other events taking place. While the theatre is used mainly by Druid, we also hire it to other companies to present their work. Please contact the office to find out if there is anything on at the moment.

How do I buy tickets to Druid shows when you are touring outside of Galway?

What is the best way to find information on your site?

Our site contains a wealth of information about the company and allows you to find information using either the main menu on the left hand side or our search function on the top right hand corner of each page. For example, if you are searching for a particular play or actor, the search function sorts all results into the relevant categories.

How do I get work experience/an internship with Druid?

Druid offers internships in the areas of administration, marketing and stage management. Please note that the time and duration of the internship is linked to our production schedule.

If you would like to be considered for an internship, please email your CV to info[at]druid[dot]ie outlining your area of interest.

We are not in a position to offer internships in the areas of set design, costume design or in directing.

Are there any recordings or DVDs available of your productions?

The DruidSynge DVD box-set contains the six J.M. Synge plays which were all staged on the same day by Druid in 2005. The box-set includes Synge’s best known work, The Playboy of the Western World. For more details and to purchase the DVD, please click here.

There are no other recordings currently available of our productions.

Can I come and have a look at the theatre?

Absolutely. We invite you to come and have a look around the theatre whenever you are in Galway. Just let us know when you will be here and we’d be delighted to show you around.

Is it possible to hire the theatre for an event?

Yes, the theatre is available for hire when it is not being used by Druid. For more information about this see the Venue Hire page.

Can I watch rehearsals or take photographs?

The company’s rehearsals are not open to the public and it is therefore not possible to watch or take photographs during our rehearsal period.

Is it possible to purchase posters and programmes from productions?

We are working towards making all of our material available in our online shop. If you have a particular request please contact us.

I am doing a research project. Can Druid assist me with this?

The primary source of information about Druid’s work is this website and our archive (see next question -“Can I look through your production archive?”). Unfortunately, we are not in a position to respond to the high level of enquiries we receive and therefore cannot guarantee a detailed response to your query.

Can I look through your production archive?

Our archive is managed and catalogued off-site by the Archive and Special Collections Department of the National University of Ireland, Galway. Access is granted to bona fide scholars. For contact details, please contact the Druid office.

How do I contact actors, writers, designers who work with you?

We can pass on agent details but are unable to pass on personal contact details.

Is it possible to borrow or hire any of your costumes?

Druid does not operate a costume rental facility.
