Druid is saddened to hear of the passing of acclaimed Irish author and playwright, Eugene McCabe.

Eugene captured the essence of life in his beloved Monaghan and told important stories about the Irish border and the troubles. Druid’s Artistic Director, Garry Hynes said ‘Having worked with Eugene McCabe back in the 1980’s at the Abbey Theatre, I was so glad to have worked with him again on Druid’s production of King of the Castle in 2017. Most especially, I was just glad to have known this extraordinary man. He was one of our greats.’

Our thoughts are with his beloved Margot, Ruth, Marcus, Patrick, Stephen, and Eugene’s extended family and friends.
