Druid Debut Titles Announced

This year's Druid Debuts will feature plays by Rory Nolan and Christian O'Reilly.

You Belong to Me is a darkly funny play about the rules we make, the lives we break and the dancing in between. Written by Druid Ensemble member Rory Nolan, this debut is directed by Garry Hynes and will be presented on Friday 20th July at 12 noon in the Mick Lally Theatre.

Babysitter is a comedy about resentment, entitlement and middle class sexual politics from Galway writer Christian O'Reilly (Sanctuary, The Good Father, Here We Are Again Still). It will be directed by Ensemble member Marty Rea and takes place on Friday 27th July at 12 noon in the Mick Lally Theatre.

Druid Debuts staged readings offer the chance to experience work fresh off the page and to share an open discussion with writer and cast. They are a chance to see and shape something new and daring. Many readings have gone on to full productions including last year’s Furniture by Sonya Kelly, 2016's Shelter by Cristín Kehoe, and 2014's Helen and I by Meadhbh McHugh.

Did you know you can catch three performances of new writing in one day? Catch a Druid Debut at noon and a performance of Furniture and Shelter later that day. The new wave of Irish writing is at the Mick Lally Theatre this July during Galway International Arts Festival.
