The Playboy of the Western World

Druid’s production of The Playboy of the Western World opened at the Perth Festival in West Australia and saw Aaron Monaghan and Ruth Negga taking over the roles of Christy and Pegeen. The Druid production, directed by Garry Hynes, was presented in His Majesty’s Theatre from Tuesday 1st until Sunday 6th March, 2005. The Cast included Marie Mullen, recently described by The Irish Times as the ‘greatest living stage interpreter of Synge’s work’.

The Festival, now in its 52nd year, is Australia’s oldest international multi-arts festival. In 2005, it presented approximately 500 artists from 15 countries including U.K., France, South Africa, U.S.A, India, Brazil and Finland.
