Poet Anne Gaffney and guitarist/singer Martin O'Hara are a duo called The Poetic Note who combine poetry, song and music.

The poems are about the events of everyday life experienced either personally, observationally or anecdotally.

The poetry, music and song are composed together to complement each other and combine into one performance. All poems are accessible and direct. The music is acoustic guitar based and similarly accessible, interesting and lively. Anne and Martin want their performances to be uplifting and life affirming as opposed to a sedate and introverted experience.

Anne is a native of Athlone. She is a psychotherapist who also trains and supervises students in that field. She has been dabbling in poetry for years, more recently with some dedication and self-belief. Her inspiration comes in many forms, rooted in her basic love of people, and of course the twists and turns of everyday life, which includes an earthed connection with nature and ancient mystical places.

Martin is a singer / multi-instrumentalist originally from Edinburgh but based in Ireland for the last thirty years. As well as composing a lot of soundtrack music for TG4 and UTV he has played in many bands over the years and produced and recorded albums for artists such as Goats Don't Shave and Tanya McCole.
