Druid appoints three new Board Members

Druid is delighted to welcome three new members to its Board of Directors.

Druid has announced Edel Coffey, Joy Bolster Duane and Hugh Hamrock have joined its Board of Directors.

Announcing the appointments, Druid Chair Adrian O’Neill said: “We are thrilled to welcome Edel, Joy and Hugh to the Druid Board as we embark on the next exciting phase of the company.  Their respective experiences and skill-sets will enrich the work of the Board and make a valuable contribution to the future of Druid”.  

Joy Bolster Duane brings extensive experience across the financial services and medical device sectors, with a background spanning indigenous businesses, multinationals and start‑ups. Holding degrees in Arts, Science and Human Resource Management, she is committed to collaboration, continuous learning and community impact. Joy has held leadership roles in charitable organisations and supports early‑stage ventures through advisory and investment, with a strong focus on relationship‑building and innovation. Joy lives in Galway.

Edel Coffey is a journalist, editor, broadcaster and bestselling author with over 25 years’ experience in Irish national media, including senior roles with The Irish Times, RTÉ Radio, The Irish ExaminerThe Irish Independent and Hachette. She is currently Books Editor at The Gloss Magazine. Edel is the author of three bestselling novels, most recently In Glass Houses (2026), and her debut won the An Post Irish Book Award for Best Crime Novel of the Year. She is also an experienced public speaker and mentor, with strong connections across Irish literature, broadcasting and publishing. Edel lives in Galway.

Hugh Hamrock is a Bank Manager with Bank of Ireland, overseeing the University of Galway and Mainguard Street branches. Over his 30‑year career with the bank, he has held a range of retail and business banking roles and is recognised for his leadership, customer focus and expertise. A Qualified Financial Adviser and Chartered Banker, Hugh has lived in Galway for 25 years with his family and is deeply engaged in supporting the social and cultural life of the region.

The new members join current Druid Board members: Adrian O'Neill (Chair), Caroline Loughnane (Deputy Chair), Mary Apied, Derek Diviney, Padraic Ferry, Sean O'Rourke and Bernadette Murtagh (Company Secretary).
