As the first professional theatre company founded outside Dublin, Druid has paved the way for bold, innovative productions that resonate with audiences around Ireland and the world. Serving as an important cultural ambassador, we have brought productions to over 100 Irish communities and 40 international cities as part of our continuing vision: Irish performance for the world.
Artist Development
Nurturing Irish talent is core to our mission. Initiatives like the FUEL Artist Residency, New Writing Program, and Marie Mullen Bursary support the next generation of actors, playwrights, designers, and technicians, helping to ensure career-building pathways as part of a dynamic and ever-evolving Irish arts scene.
Community Engagement
Our Community & Education Programmes deepen audience engagement in the places where we perform, offering workshops for schools and theatre groups, subsidized tickets, and classroom resources. We’re also proud of our reputation for performing in remote and sometimes unconventional venues—community halls, islands, local festivals, and more—ensuring professional theatre is accessible for all.
Rooted in Galway
Our historic home, the Mick Lally Theatre, is a creative hub where Irish and international artists bring ambitious productions to life. Complemented by our Nuns’ Island costume shop and our dedicated set workshop in Ballybane, these spaces reflect our enduring commitment to our hometown and the craftspeople who bring our productions to life, contributing to a thriving arts infrastructure in the West of Ireland.
Sustainability
Druid’s sustainability practices are evident throughout our workshops where our costumes, props and sets are reused, recycled and reimagined. Our work is built to last, created in Galway, toured around the world, and then returned to Galway to become something new.
