Today marks 50 years exactly since Druid’s first ever performance.
On Thursday 3 July 1975, a group of young people took to the stage of the Jesuit Hall on Sea Road and performed The Playboy of the Western World by J. M. Synge.
Five decades on, we can’t believe that we’re still going.
There are so many individuals and organisations who helped us along the way but we owe a special debt of gratitude to the people and businesses of Galway.
Since day one, you’ve supported us as audience members, as friends and neighbours, and as generous donors.
We’re so grateful to you and we’re so proud to represent Galway around the world.
