Set in 1937, Tom an aspiring poet who works in a shoe shop to support his mother and his sister as his father left them years ago. As the years past Tom, his mother or sister has had no contact with Tom and Laura’s father, except for one postcard. We are shown Tom’s past through his memories in the play.
