About The Silver Tassie

This sweeping play follows the lives of two young footballing heroes from the tenements of Dublin through the battlefields of France, and their return home.

Using all the resources of the theatre including live music and dance, this is an epic staging of one of O’Casey’s great plays.

Tony Award-winner Garry Hynes directs a cast of 19 – Druid’s biggest ever company of actors – and welcomes back some Druid favourites including Aaron Monaghan, Eamon Morrissey and Derbhle Crotty.

Kicking off on August 24th at the Town Hall Theatre in Galway, The Silver Tassie will also tour to five venues in Ireland and to the UK. Full tour schedule can be found on the right-hand-side of this page.

Druid would like to acknowledge the continued support of the Arts Council in funding the company’s work and also the support of Culture Ireland in funding its international touring programme.
